안녕하세요 

저는 2007년 부터 조지아텍 학생분들과 방문학자 분들에게 보험안내를 드리고 있는 비엠비 코리아 보험 대리점 대표 이보택이라고 합니다.

다름이 아니라 조지아텍으로 출국을 준비하고 계시는 방문학자 분들과 동반가족 보험 관련해 안내 드리고자 글을 올립니다. 

조지아텍은 모든 J비자 방문학자(방문교수,방문연구원)와 J2 동반가족에게 미국무부(U.S Department of State)에서 정한 보험 조건에 충족하는 보험에 가입 할 것을 요구하고 있으며, 이 조건에 충족하는 보험에 가입할 경우 학교에서 안내하는 현지 보험을 의무적으로 가입하지 않으셔도 됩니다.

국내 보험사들이 판매하고 있는 대부분의 해외장기체류보험 상품들은 조지아텍에서 요구하는 J1 방문학자 보험 조건에 충족을 하기 때문에, 조지아텍으로 출국하시는 J1 비자 방문학자분들과 J2 비자 동반가족분들은 국내 보험사의 보험 상품으로 학교보험 대체가 가능하기 때문에, 많은 분들이 국내 보험 상품을 이용하고 계십니다.

조지아텍 J1 비자 방문학자 및 J2 비자 동반가족 보험 조건

Your health insurance coverage must meet or exceed these requirements established by the U.S. Department of State.

Sponsors must require that all exchange visitors (as well as their accompanying spouses and dependents) have insurance in

effect that covers them for sickness or accidents during the time of their exchange visitor program. The recent rule increases

the minimum coverage to meet today’s medical insurance needs. As of May 15, 2015, minimum coverage must provide medical

benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; expenses associated with

medical evacuation to the exchange visitor’s home country in the amount of $50,000; and deductibles cannot exceed $500 per

accident or illness (Section 62.14(a)). Inadequate insurance coverage may be catastrophic for an individual exchange visitor.

Thus, the Department increased the requirements.

Program participants and their dependents are required to have medical insurance coverage with the following minimum

benefits [22 CFR 62.14].

•Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness

•Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000

•Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000

•A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness. Sponsors are to require that their participants (and any dependents

entering the United States as holders of a J-2 visa) have insurance in effect during the period of time they are in the sponsor's

program. An insurance policy secured to meet the benefits requirements must be underwritten by an insurance corporation with

an A.M. Best rating of "A-" or above, an Insurance Solvency International, Ltd. (ISI) rating of "A-I" or above, a Standard and

Poor's Claims Paying Ability rating of "A-" or above, or a Weiss Research, Inc. rating of B+ or above. Alternatively, the sponsor

may ascertain that the participant's policy is backed by the full faith and credit of the government of the exchange visitor's home

2.학교전산 보험 등록

J1 비자 방문학자 분들은 J 비자 보험 조건에 충족하는 보험에 가입 할 경우 , 학교측 전산에 보험 증서를 업로드 하시면 됩니다.

J1 비자 방문학자 분들은 DS-2019 상의 프로그램 기간과 동일하게 하여 보험 가입을 하셔야 하며, 실제 출국일이 DS-2019 시작일보다 빠른 경우, 출국일부터 DS-2019 시작일 전까지는 혹시 모를 사고나 질병에 대비해 단기 여행자 보험을 가입 하실 것을 권해 드립니다.
