3-Week Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program, KOR 3813 Exploring Traditional Korea

For those interested in a summer culture tour for Traditional Korea,

I am pleased to announce that Georgia Tech will offer a new 3-week faculty-led study abroad program, KOR 3813 Exploring Traditional Korea (3 credits), from May 11 to 27, 2024. This opportunity is also available to anyone at the in-state tuition rate via the site below:

The registration deadline is February 15, 2024.

Participants will immerse themselves in traditional Korean arts, with a special emphasis on its musical heritage, during a two-week stay at the Jindo National Gugak Center (https://jindo.gugak.go.kr/site/main/main.do?lang=en).

The program uses 29 renowned Korean historical films and their soundtracks (OSTs) to highlight Korea's evolution from the Three Kingdoms Era (7th Century) to the 1980s.
Additionally, participants will spend a week visiting key historical sites and museums across Korea, including locations featured in these films or where the films were shot. This unique approach offers a comprehensive understanding of Korea's rich history and its iconic landmarks.

The only prerequisite is KOR 1002, Elementary Korean II.
