Lead Electrical Technician
Utility Maintenance Team  |  Hanwha Qcells USA

 SUMMARY
 
The Lead Electrical Technician serves as the on-site technical leader responsible for the reliable operation of power distribution systems and utility electrical infrastructure at a solar panel manufacturing facility. Operating within the Utility Maintenance Team, this role oversees electrical system operation and maintenance activities, including power system monitoring, preventive maintenance, fault response, and emergency response.
 
In addition to hands-on technical work, the Lead Electrical Technician provides technical guidance to field electrical technicians, leads on-site response during power anomalies and outage events, and maintains the stable power supply and equipment operation required for continuous manufacturing production.
 
 RESPONSIBILITIES
 
 Power System Operation & Monitoring
• Monitor operational status of factory power distribution systems including substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and panelboards.
• Review power system data and alarms; respond to abnormal conditions as they arise.
• Analyze power system anomalies and perform initial corrective actions.
• Verify power quality and system operating conditions to support stable power delivery.
 
 Power Distribution Equipment Operation
• Operate 480V, 277V, 208V, and 120V power distribution systems and panel breakers.
• Perform energization and de-energization tasks in accordance with electrical safety procedures during maintenance or work activities.
• Manage power system operating states during planned outages or maintenance windows.
 
 Emergency Response
• Lead on-site initial response during power outages, electrical faults, and power anomalies.
• Assess field conditions and report status to management and engineering teams.
• Coordinate power system restoration activities and support safe power recovery.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions following electrical incidents or failures.
 
 Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Inspection
• Execute preventive maintenance activities on power distribution equipment and major electrical systems.
• Perform visual and thermographic inspections on electrical panels, switchgear, and distribution equipment.
• Identify early signs of potential equipment degradation including overheating, loose connections, and insulation deterioration.
• Maintain accurate records of inspection results and maintenance activities.
 
 Field Technical Leadership
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to electrical maintenance technicians.
• Plan and coordinate electrical maintenance activities within the Utility Team.
• Support resolution of complex electrical and instrumentation system issues.
• Participate in improvement of maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
 
 Contractor Work Oversight
• Supervise contractor activities related to electrical equipment and systems.
• Verify contractor compliance with safety regulations and electrical work procedures.
• Confirm completion quality and acceptance of contractor-performed work.
 
 Safety & Regulatory Compliance
• Enforce electrical safety regulations and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
• Participate in electrical safety inspections and hazard assessment activities.
• Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company safety policies and NFPA 70E standards.
 
 Additional Responsibilities
• Support development and revision of SOPs and LOTO procedures.
• Maintain records of equipment status, maintenance activities, and work orders in the CMMS system.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
 
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical maintenance, including power distribution systems (480V and above).
• Demonstrated experience operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting substations, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and panelboards in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control wiring diagrams.
• Working knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
• Experience with thermographic (infrared) inspection and power quality monitoring tools.
• Experience providing technical guidance or leadership to a team of technicians.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, instrumentation, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Ability to coordinate with engineering, operations, and EHS teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for up to 90% of the work shift.
• Proficiency in both Korean and English (written and spoken) is required for this role.
 
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field.
• Experience in semiconductor, solar, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with utility systems including PCW, CT, CH, CDA, HVAC, GCS, N2, WWT, and UPW.
• Experience with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent) and SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Relevant certifications (Electrician license, NFPA 70E, or equivalent) are a plus.
• Experience using a CMMS (e.g., MaintainX, SAP PM, Maximo) for work order management.

 직무 개요 (SUMMARY)
 
Lead Electrical Technician은 태양광 패널 제조 공장의 전력 배전 시스템과 유틸리티 전기 설비의 안정적인 운영을 담당하는 현장 기술 Leader 역할을 수행한다. Utility Maintenance part 내에서 전기 설비 운영 및 유지보수 활동을 총괄 지원하며, 전력 시스템 모니터링, 예방보전 활동, 고장 대응 및 비상 상황 대응을 수행한다.
 
현장 전기 테크니션들에게 기술적 지도를 제공하고, 전력 이상 상황 및 정전 등 비상 상황 발생 시 현장 대응을 주도하며, 공장의 안정적인 전력 공급과 설비 운영을 유지하는 역할을 담당한다.
 
 주요 업무 (RESPONSIBILITIES)
 
 전력 시스템 운영 및 모니터링
• 공장 전력 배전 시스템 (Substation, Switchgear, Transformer, MCC, Panelboard 등) 운영 상태 모니터링
• 전력 시스템 데이터 및 알람 상황 점검 및 이상 상태 발생 시 대응
• 전력 시스템 이상 상황 분석 및 초기 대응 조치 수행
• 전력 품질 및 시스템 운전 상태 확인을 통한 안정적인 전력 운영 지원
 
 전력 배전 설비 조작

• 전기 사고 또는 장애 발생 시 원인 분석 및 재발 방지 활동 지원
 
 예방 보전 및 설비 점검
• 전력 배전 설비 및 주요 전기 장비에 대한 예방 보전 활동 수행
• 전기 판넬, Switchgear, 배전 설비 등에 대한 육안 점검 및 열화상 점검 수행
• 과열, 접속 불량, 절연 열화 등 잠재적 설비 이상 조기 발견
• 점검 결과 및 유지보수 활동 기록 관리
 
 현장 기술 Leading
• 전기 유지보수 테크니션에 대한 기술 지도 및 작업 지원
• Utility 팀 내 전기 유지보수 작업 계획 및 수행 조율
• 복잡한 전기 및 계장 설비 문제 해결 지원
• 유지보수 절차 및 표준 작업 절차(SOP) 개선 활동 참여
 
 외주 작업 관리
• 전기 설비 관련 외주 작업 감독
• 외주 작업자의 안전 규정 및 전기 작업 절차 준수 확인
• 외주 작업 완료 상태 및 품질 확인
 
 안전 및 규정 준수
• 전기 안전 규정 및 LOTO 절차 준수 관리
• 전기 안전 점검 및 위험성 평가 활동 참여

 필수 자격 요건 (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
 
• 산업용 전기 유지보수 분야 5년 이상의 실무 경험 (480V 이상 전력 배전 시스템 포함)
• 제조업 또는 산업 환경에서 Substation, Switchgear, MCC, Transformer, Panelboard 운전·유지보수·고장 진단 경험
• 전기 도면, 단선도(Single-line Diagram), 제어 배선도 독해 능력
• LOTO(Lockout/Tagout) 절차 및 NFPA 70E 전기 안전 기준 실무 지식
• 열화상(Infrared) 점검 및 전력 품질 모니터링 장비 사용 경험
• 테크니션 팀에 대한 기술 지도 또는 리더십 경험
• 전기·계장·PLC 제어 시스템 고장 진단 능력
• 엔지니어링·운영·EHS 팀과의 협업 및 빠른 속도의 제조 환경 적응 능력
• 반복 작업 시 최대 50파운드(약 23kg) 운반 가능, 근무 시간의 90% 이상 서서 근무 가능
• 한국어 및 영어 구사 능력 필수 (읽기·쓰기·말하기)
 
 우대 자격 요건 (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)
 
• 전기공학, 전기기술 또는 관련 기술 분야 전문학사 이상
• 반도체, 태양광 또는 첨단 제조업 환경 근무 경험
• PCW, CT, CH, CDA, HVAC, GCS, N2, WWT, UPW 등 유틸리티 시스템 관련 지식
• PLC 시스템 (Siemens, Allen-Bradley 등) 및 SCADA/HMI 플랫폼 경험
