Georgia State University’s Perimeter College’s Life and Earth Sciences Department invites your application of the position, Temporary Lab Technician.
Under the supervision of the campus BIOL Lab Coordinator, the Temporary Laboratory Technician plans, organizes, and directs the operations of multiple instructional science laboratories on the Perimeter College, Decatur campus; ensures science labs operate efficiently, effectively, and safely; trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Salary: $13 - $19/hr based on education and experience

Job description:
The Laboratory Tech prepares supplies, reagents and media for biology and environmental science laboratory classes, sets up supplies & equipment in these lab rooms, takes it down after lab classes, cleans glassware and other items and maintains cleanliness or prep room and teaching labs. Also, assist Lab Coordinator and work with Lab Assistants in tracking and maintaining supply and equipment inventory, ordering supplies, documenting lab prep and safety protocol, and in proper storage, logging and disposal of wastes. Performs related duties as assigned.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Excellent organizational skills are required to maintain supply inventory and laboratory equipment, work within the department budget and produce, revise, and maintain appropriate records, such as accurate laboratory protocols for preparation and teaching materials, experiments and procedures. Must be knowledgeable in the safe handling of laboratory instrumentation/equipment and of current laboratory safety practice and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with federal and state regulatory, safety and health standards and to ensure safe and legal acquisition, use, storage and disposal of all chemicals and hazardous materials in the science labs.
Effective computer skills and use of laboratory technology is required.
