Position: Quality Control Specialist – Automotive Stamping

Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexibility based on production schedules
Compensation: Starting from $78,000 salary or approximately $35/hour DOE

Company Overview
We are a growing automotive Tier 1 stamping manufacturer supplying metal body and structural components to major automotive customers.
Our facility specializes in precision metal stamping, quality inspection, and high-volume manufacturing operations. We are seeking a motivated
and detail-oriented Quality Control Specialist to join our team in Itasca, Illinois.
This position is ideal for candidates with an engineering background who are interested in automotive manufacturing, quality systems, inspection,
and process improvement within a fast-paced production environment.
Position Summary
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in-process production, and finished automotive stamped parts to ensure
all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
This role will work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to support plant quality objectives, identify manufacturing defects,
maintain inspection records, and ensure compliance with customer requirements. The position may work in production areas, inspection stations,
measuring rooms, or office environments within the manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of automotive stamped parts and assemblies
Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
Verify products meet customer drawings, GD&T requirements, and quality specifications
Approve and sign off on outgoing shipments and production pallets
Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and daily QC activity reports
Identify and report non-conforming materials or production issues
Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action activities
Monitor production quality trends and communicate concerns to management
Ensure quality control procedures and checklists are consistently followed on the production floor
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and manufacturing efficiency
Train and assist production operators on inspection standards, visual acceptability, and measurement procedures
Maintain and calibrate inspection and testing equipment as required
Work closely with engineering and production departments to improve product quality and reduce defects
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, and quality documentation systems
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible to support manufacturing and production schedules
Preferred
Experience in automotive manufacturing or metal stamping environment
Experience with inspection and measurement of automotive body parts
Knowledge of precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment
Understanding of quality systems, SPC, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
Previous experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and move throughout the production facility
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with equipment noise and production activity
Visual ability to inspect parts and identify defects accurately
Ability to safely perform duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
